Questions before adding a tuition class

1What exactly is the problem?

Which topic or skill is hard right now? Name it as precisely as you can.
What did the teacher say, and what did you see in recent work?
What does your child say is hard, and do they want help?

2What have we tried first?

  • Asked the teacher how we can help at home, and whether the school has support for this
  • Asked about the school’s own learning support, such as LSP, LSM or dyslexia support (our guide lists them: raisingangels.sg/guides/learning-support-in-primary-school)
  • Fifteen minutes of calm practice a few times a week, for three or four weeks
  • Library books, free practice or a study buddy
  • Checked for sleep, eyesight or worries that might be the real cause

3Does it fit the week?

Shade what is already taken. Leave free time and play: children need it too.

List every afternoon and evening commitment from Monday to Sunday, then see where a class could go without losing rest and play.

4What will it cost?

Extras: materials, deposit, travelS$
Total for the months plannedS$

5How will we know it worked?

One thing that will be different in three months:
Our review date, and what we do if nothing has changed:

Our decision: Start, wait and try home practice first, or not now. Use the Tuition Trial-Review Sheet after a trial lesson. We do not rank tuition or enrichment providers.

Updated 12 October 2026. Print on A4, portrait, black and white is fine. Fill it in with the other parent before any trial lesson.
