1. FWD Insurance
Established in 2013 in Asia, you may have been acquainted with FWD’s brand. Priding themselves in providing customers with a seamless and fuss-free interface to purchase travel insurance via their website, simply click on this link to get a customised quote based on your travel details.
Basic coverage here will cost you about $43 (as with the proposed scenario). If you’re looking for basic coverage for your family travel insurance and just need something good enough to tide you through, FWD’s a no-frills choice for you.
They do have frequent promotions going on as well – so remember to punch in TRAVEL25 to get a bang for your buck.
2. Direct Asia
Having keyed in the customised quote, their basic family travel insurance plans go for a competitive rate from $40, offering free coverage for your kids! With that, it might also be a good idea to pay a couple more dollars to bump your family travel insurance plan to the next tier to increase your coverage by a fair bit more – quite a good deal, we reckon!
However, unlike all the previous brands we’ve mentioned, this brand only allows you to opt for a single country coverage instead of a regional one.
3. Singlife
Singlife provides coverage for overseas medical expenses, trip cancellation and loss of baggage for $79. Similar to NTUC, it provides up to $250,000 worth of overseas medical expenses claims for the basic plan, as well as $5,000 worth of trip cancellation. However, if you choose to opt for the advanced family travel insurance plans, Singlife does offer unlimited overseas medical expense claims at higher premiums.
Besides, this plan also offers free extensions including some COVID-19 related issues, as well as disappearance, terrorism, and motorcycling. If you’re a golfer or winter sport fanatic, this insurance plan might also catch your eye for other optional extensions.
Remember to key in TRAVEL18 for 18% off your purchases with your customised quotes.
4. NTUC Income
If you prefer opting for a household brand, NTUC Income offers competitive family travel insurance prices as with FWD Insurance. Should any family member have a pre-existing medical condition, you can also opt for coverage for it.
5. Allianz Travel
If you’re looking for an all-round coverage for your trip, Allianz Travel provides one of the best coverages. From trip cancellation up to $15,000 and emergency medical coverage of up to $1 million fo the whole family, there are other heavy coverages that this family travel insurance plan offers.
Of course, it does come with a greater price of $100 and above for the basic plan (after discount code). Type travelsafer into the promo code for 35% off!
6. AIG
Within the same price range as Allianz Travel, AIG also offers family travel insurance plans with higher premiums. However, we can understand why – with the long list of coverage they have, it not only includes overseas medical expenses and trip cancellation, but quarantine allowance, continuing medical expenses in Singapore as well as other scenarios such as hijacking, kidnap and hostage.
7. Great Eastern
A reliable house brand for insurance policies, Great Eastern’s family travel insurance offers a comparatively higher coverage for basic needs such as overseas medical expenses and loss of personal belongings. However, the downside is that the most basic plan does not cover COVID-19 needs – so you might have to bump your plan up a little more for a greater peace of mind. Premiums typically range from $150 to $300, depending on your choice of plan.
8. MSIG
While MSIG may also be on the higher range of premiums for their basic family travel insurance plans, their insurance products provide the flexibility of covering a whole region of travel destinations. Furthermore, there is also COVID-19 coverage, regardless of plan you choose to purchase.
Similar to AIG, MSIG also has insurance extensions for unforeseen mishaps such as terrorism, war, hijacking and kidnapping.
Do note that these prices and coverage are also based on a specific scenario as proposed. Therefore, it is important to check the specifics of your personalised family travel insurance as per your plans.
It is highly likely that some countries require you to be covered by a certain medical expense amount in USD. Further, it will also be a good idea to check the extent of COVID-19 coverage your family travel insurance plans offers, and consider if you need to buy any extensions.
