What Is A 3 Wheel Scooter?

3 wheel scooters are, well… scooters with 3 wheels. As you might imagine, these are the safest for kids especially if the scooter has larger wheels. With 3 wheel scooters, it’s a lot easier for your child to maintain stability which means the chance of toppling sideways is reduced.

3 wheel scooters are recommended if:

• Your child needs to build confidence on a scooter
• Your child is inexperienced with scooters and struggles to maintain stability
• Your child is under 5 years old

What Is A 2 Wheel Scooter?

2 wheel scooters are of course less stable than their 3 wheel counterparts, but kids typically enjoy these a lot more. This is because it’s a lot easier to steer in different directions with a 2 wheel scooter. Also, just like bicycles these scooters require a minimum speed to stay balanced. With a 2 wheel scooter, your kids will usually end up going pretty fast. It’s a lot of fun for them, but it also means a lot more chasing after your kids!

2 wheel scooters are recommended if:

• Your child already can ride a 2-wheel bicycle well
• Your child has outgrown his/her 3-wheel scooter and balance/stability isn’t an issue

While this is the most expensive scooter in this list, you are paying for quality. The Micro Mini Deluxe Magic Scooter feels very sturdy and strong and is overall just a great scooter. Just keep in mind that kids tend to outgrow 3 wheel scooters quite quickly, so you need to properly decide if you want to splurge in this particular model.

This is probably the most innovative 3 wheel scooter in the entire list. It comes with a seat! This makes it more suitable for even younger kids (as early as 18 months, according to the page description).

So who is this scooter for? Obviously, if your kid is already familiar with scooters then this is not an ideal choice. But, if your child is very young – or not confident with scooters yet, then this is an excellent choice for safety and to build that confidence.

Additional features include LED wheels and an adjustable handlebar like most scooters. However, this also comes with 6 different in-built horn sounds to thrill your little one!

3. Decathlon B1 500 Children’s Scooter

Are you actually surprised to see Decathlon products in this list? Decathlon’s sports products may not have that ‘premium feel’, but they are reliable and undeniably affordable. The B1 500 Children’s Scooter comes with all the same features as the Micro Mini Deluxe Magic Scooter but at a fraction of the price.

This model also comes with LED lights on the wheels, and an adjustable handlebar which is a useful feature as your kid grows. And since this is in Decathlon, it’s a lot easier for you to simply let your child try out the scooter in the store. Plus, you’ll also be able to conveniently pick up safety equipment like helmets and elbow pads while shopping.

4. Big Wheels Scooter From Shopee

Can we go even cheaper than Decathlon? Of course! We scoured through Shopee to find this 3 wheel scooter that’s sold over 650 units with a respectable rating of 4.9 stars. Simply named a ‘Big Wheels Scooter’, this scooter’s unique feature is a rear wheel that is larger than usual. This should provide greater stability for your child.

Another unique feature of this scooter is that it has a wider deck (the part where your child stands on) than usual of 12.7 cm, which makes it a safer design. Just like the other options, it comes with LED lights on the wheels too which do not require batteries.

To us, this scooter looks a little more ‘plastic’ than the rest of the models but the seller seems very confident about the sturdiness of the scooter. The extra-wide deck and thick rear wheel are reassuring features, and this could very well be a great value-for-money buy.

Best 2 Wheel Scooters For Kids In Singapore

1. Micro Sprite Deluxe

Again, we’re starting the list with a scooter from Micro! This time, we’re showing you their Micro Sprite Deluxe which is one of their most popular 2 wheel scooter models. Now, when it comes to finding the best 2 wheel scooter, it’s important to remember that 2 wheel scooters are also suitable for adults.

Hence, it may be cost-effective to find a model that is sleek and timeless so that your child can continue using even after adolescence. The Micro Sprite Deluxe definitely looks sleek with a matte black finish – even adults will appreciate its design.

It has an up-swept handlebar so it’s more comfortable to grip, and of course it has an adjustable height too. It also has LED lights located at the front of the scooter. Another nice touch is that the handlebars are collapsible, allowing it to store neatly.

2. Globber Flow Foldable 125

Slightly cheaper than the Micro Sprite Deluxe, the Globber Flow Foldable 125 is also an excellent choice. Design-wise, it looks a little less sleek than the Micro Sprite Deluxe – so it may be less desirable for older kids, but younger kids might like its design more.

Keep in mind that this model does not have LED lights, so you’ll need to purchase them and attach them to the scooter. It also has wider wheels than most 2 wheel scooters, which provide greater stability. There are 2 unique features about the Globber Flow Foldable 125 that stand out.

First, it has a very satisfying folding mechanism – you just need to press a button and it will fold. Next, the deck is coated with EVA foam which is a nice touch. This protects the deck of the scooter from wear-and-tear from knocks and cuts.

3. Razor A5 Lux Scooter

No ‘scooters for kids’ list is complete without a scooter from Razor. Razor (not to be confused with PC gaming equipment company Razer) is known for their high-quality, affordably-priced scooters.

In terms of build, it’s very similar to the Micro Sprite Deluxe. It has a comfortable foam grip and a sturdy aluminum body. Design-wise, it also looks pretty sleek so your kids won’t feel embarrassed riding this scooter when he or she gets older. The Razor A5 Lux scooter is also designed for taller kids. This will be a great option for older kids, teenagers or even young adults.

Like the Micro Sprite Deluxe, it also has a kick-stand for easy parking. However, it does not have LED lights so you’ll need to attach those yourself.

4. 2 Wheels Foldable Kids Kick Scooter From Shopee

Now, if you’re really on a budget then this is probably your best choice from Shopee. We looked through many 2 wheel scooters for kids on Shopee, and this one seemed to be well-liked by parents. It has over 200 ratings with a fantastic score of 4.8.

First thing to note is that this is probably NOT a scooter for older kids. It has a colourful design that will appeal more to younger kids. It also has LED wheels, which is a nice touch but probably not something an older kid would want on his or her scooter.

It also has a kick-stand for easy parking. Overall, this has all the important features in a 2 wheel scooter – but to be honest, it does look a little flimsy. It’s hard to argue with the price though.

What About Electric Scooters (E-Scooters)?

As mentioned earlier on in this article, e-scooters should NOT be considered for kids. Even for adults, e-scooters can be dangerous to ride without proper experience. There are also many rules and regulations when it comes to owning and riding an e-scooter in Singapore.
