1Documents for admission
The lists below are what Singapore hospitals publish today. Each hospital asks for slightly different things, so check your own hospital's list or ask at your antenatal visit.
- Your NRIC or passport, the originalNUH, SGH and Raffles Hospital list it. Raffles Hospital asks for your spouse's too, so bring both.
- Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, if you hold oneSGH lists these for patients who hold a work pass.
- Your doctor's admission letter or the hospital's admission formsRaffles Hospital and Mount Alvernia Hospital ask for the admission letter from your clinic. Public hospitals give you their own forms.
- NRIC of each MediSave account holder paying the billSGH and Raffles Hospital ask for it, and SGH has a MediSave authorisation form for you to sign. Tell the admissions staff you will use MediSave.
- Letter of guarantee or insurance card, if your employer or insurer paysListed by NUH, SGH and Mount Alvernia Hospital.
- Receipts for pre-delivery medical bills, if you will claim them from MediSaveMount Alvernia Hospital asks for them at admission. Ask your hospital whether it does the same.
- A way to pay the depositPrivate hospitals such as Raffles Hospital and Mount Alvernia Hospital collect a deposit on admission. NUH collects it at a clinic visit after financial counselling at 28 to 32 weeks.
2Before the day
- Pre-register with your hospitalNUH offers pre-registration from week 28 so you can go straight to the delivery suite. Mount Alvernia Hospital offers it online. Ask your hospital how it works there.
- Pack the bag a few weeks earlyKKH suggests two weeks ahead; NUH says a few weeks. Leave it by the door with this list on top.
- Fit a rear-facing infant car seatKKH asks parents to bring one even if you are going home by taxi or Grab.
3For registering the birth later
You register on LifeSG within 42 days of the birth, so you do not need these at the delivery suite. Keep them together at home, ready for the day you apply.
- Both parents' identity details: NRIC, FIN or passport Official
- Your marriage details, and the marriage certificate if applicable OfficialLifeSG asks for marriage details online and the certificate itself if you register in person at ICA. Documents not in English need an official translation.
- A credit or debit card, or PayNow, for the S$18 fee Official
- Your Baby Bonus choices: a parent's bank account and your CDA bank OfficialFor eligible Singapore citizen babies, this is part of birth registration.
