As we approach the long awaited National Day weekend, it’s time to start planning for some celebrations. Apart from recommendations on where to see fireworks 2022, this guide has got you covered with exciting activities and spots you can check out on 9th August as you get ready to rein in the annual patriotism.

Here’s a guide for catching fireworks across the island – whether it’s in the heartlands, out about in town, or in atas (literally) rooftop restaurants.

1) Where To See Fireworks 2022 In the Heartlands

The fireworks will go right up on display at the same time as the main celebrations in Marina Bay, from 8.15pm to 8.25pm. While admission is free, entrance begins from 6pm and it’s on a first come first serve basis – so remember to be there early to snag a spot!

  • Ang Mo Kio (Open Field Next to Public Library)

If you’re reluctant to join in the jostle, you can consider heading to Ang Mo Kio Town Garden West located across the library.

  • Bedok Stadium
  • Jurong West Stadium
  • Woodlands Stadium

An alternative to Woodlands Stadium is the Woodlands Townpark East. Offering a high vantage point of 30m, take a short hike up this hilltop to catch a clear view of the Western fireworks.

Whether you are an Eastie or Westie, the 57th annual festivities has got you covered. If you’re looking for more fun, here are other prominent NDP events you can also look forward to over the weekend:

6th August – Carnivals happening across the island, from 4pm to 9pm. Here, you can expect street food, live performances, display of SAF and home team vehicles, art workshops and more!

7th August – Red Lions Free-fall jumps from 8.40am to 9am

2) Where To See Fireworks 2022 In Town (Bonus: Activities To Do While Awaiting The Fireworks!)

Looking to soak in the bustling atmosphere closer to town? Here are some comfortable spots which will guarantee to enchant your little wide-eyed bubs. Plus, here are some suggestions to keep them entertained through the day while awaiting the fireworks.

Not an unfamiliar spot for families, here’s where you can lay out an afternoon picnic and spend time kite-flying while waiting for the evening fireworks. With Satay by the Bay only 7 minutes away, you go ahead and dabao your favourite chicken wings, satay and Hokkien Mee for dinner as you watch the fireworks go off in true-blue Singaporean style.

For a full patriotic experience, head to the new Orchid Haven at the Cloud Forest to witness our national flower in full bloom. Alternatively, you can also spend the day checking out the new Hydrangea Holidays 2022 bloom, transporting you to Netherlands!

Head up to the Observation Deck for a full pararoma view of the city, where you can admire the skyline as the fireworks go up on full display. Alternatively, you can also head to Bay East Garden for equally stunning views of the fireworks. Once night has fallen, keep the magic going by paying a visit to the free Garden Rhapsody shows at 7.45pm and 8.45pm.

Before catching the fireworks at Mount Faber Peak, take the two-way cable car ride which takes you across the Sentosa-Mount Faber line. Good news for kids who might be feeling hungry – there’s also Arbora Hilltop Garden to kill some time and keep your tummies filled for the day.

Alternatively, if you are feeling a little more adventurous, you can also opt for a healthy hike on this public holiday with your little tots. We are sure it will be eventful enough to keep you occupied till the evening fireworks!

Before you catch the fireworks at night, spend the day at Esplanade busking in the repertoire of free activities available. From live acoustic performances by local artistes at the Esplanade Concourse to art installations and exhibitions, here’s a rundown of what you can look forward to on 9 August.

In the evening, pick from two spots to catch the fireworks at. While Merlion Park may offer stunning views, the Esplanade Rooftop Terrace – though more obscure – will also give you a magnificent view of the city.
