Here’s a guide for catching fireworks across the island – whether it’s in the heartlands, out about in town, or in atas (literally) rooftop restaurants.
1) Where To See Fireworks 2022 In the Heartlands
The fireworks will go right up on display at the same time as the main celebrations in Marina Bay, from 8.15pm to 8.25pm. While admission is free, entrance begins from 6pm and it’s on a first come first serve basis – so remember to be there early to snag a spot!
- Ang Mo Kio (Open Field Next to Public Library)
If you’re reluctant to join in the jostle, you can consider heading to Ang Mo Kio Town Garden West located across the library.
- Bedok Stadium
- Jurong West Stadium
- Woodlands Stadium
An alternative to Woodlands Stadium is the Woodlands Townpark East. Offering a high vantage point of 30m, take a short hike up this hilltop to catch a clear view of the Western fireworks.
- Former Tampines Junior College
Whether you are an Eastie or Westie, the 57th annual festivities has got you covered. If you’re looking for more fun, here are other prominent NDP events you can also look forward to over the weekend:
6th August – Carnivals happening across the island, from 4pm to 9pm. Here, you can expect street food, live performances, display of SAF and home team vehicles, art workshops and more!

With Satay by the Bay only 7 minutes away, you go ahead and dabao your favourite chicken wings, satay and Hokkien Mee for dinner as you watch the fireworks go off in true-blue Singaporean style.
- Head to Gardens by the Bay
For a full patriotic experience, head to the new Orchid Haven at the Cloud Forest to witness our national flower in full bloom. Alternatively, you can also spend the day checking out the new Hydrangea Holidays 2022 bloom, transporting you to Netherlands!
Head up to the Observation Deck for a full pararoma view of the city, where you can admire the skyline as the fireworks go up on full display. Alternatively, you can also head to Bay East Garden for equally stunning views of the fireworks. Once night has fallen, keep the magic going by paying a visit to the free Garden Rhapsody shows at 7.45pm and 8.45pm.
Tickets are available here for purchase.
- Hike Mount Faber Peak
Before catching the fireworks at Mount Faber Peak, take the two-way cable car ride which takes you across the Sentosa-Mount Faber line. Good news for kids who might be feeling hungry – there’s also Arbora Hilltop Garden to kill some time and keep your tummies filled for the day.
Alternatively, if you are feeling a little more adventurous, you can also opt for a healthy hike on this public holiday with your little tots. We are sure it will be eventful enough to keep you occupied till the evening fireworks!
- Spend an Artsy Day at Esplanade
Before you catch the fireworks at night, spend the day at Esplanade busking in the repertoire of free activities available. From live acoustic performances by local artistes at the Esplanade Concourse to art installations and exhibitions, here’s a rundown of what you can look forward to on 9 August.
In the evening, pick from two spots to catch the fireworks at. While Merlion Park may offer stunning views, the Esplanade Rooftop Terrace – though more obscure – will also give you a magnificent view of the city.
- Take a Spin on the Singapore Flyer
If you’re not one to enjoy the sweat and buzz of crowds, ere’s where you can enjoy the magic in privacy and comfort of an air-conditioned capsule. Although this might not be free, you can be sure it will be a memorable experience catching the fireworks from an obstructed view of 165m high.
Each rotation is 30 minutes, so be sure to pick the right tickets timing to catch the fireworks!
