MediSave and cash

MediShield Life premiums can be paid fully from MediSave. An IP’s private part can use MediSave up to S$300 a year (age next birthday 40 or below) or S$600 (41 to 70). The insurer collects the rest in cash.

Deductible and co-pay

Most IPs in MOH’s tables: S$1,500 C, S$2,000 B2, S$2,500 B1, S$3,500 A and private, with 10% co-insurance.

You pay the plan’s deductible (for example S$3,500 in a Class A or private ward) and 10% co-insurance on most plans.

With a rider

A rider sold from 1 April 2026 cannot pay the minimum deductible (S$1,500 to S$3,500 a year by ward). You pay at least 5% of the bill, capped at no less than S$6,000 a year.

Riders sold from 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2026: at least 5% co-payment, capped at no less than S$3,000 a year. One bought from 27 November 2025 to 31 March 2026 moves to the new rules by its first renewal after 1 April 2028. For older riders, each insurer decides.

MOH does not publish rider premiums in its comparison, so they are not shown here. Ask the insurer.

Our method

We took MediShield Life premiums from MOH’s premium table and every Integrated Shield Plan premium from MOH’s comparison of plans by ward. The MediSave part is the MediShield Life premium plus the private part up to CPF’s yearly limit; the rest is cash. Premiums are before any MediShield Life subsidy and include GST.
