What this result assumes
Care is needed when every adult you list is away. Overlapping arrangements are merged first, so an hour covered by two people counts once. Hours are rounded to the nearest quarter hour. The 7am to 7pm childcare button is an example to edit, not your centre's hours: check opening hours with your centre (ECDA). A plan shows gaps; it cannot create childcare places, and working from home is not the same as supervising a child. ECDA says full-day infant care and child care run from 7am to 7pm, 5 or 5½ days a week, excluding Sundays and gazetted public holidays. Names and times stay on this device and are never put in a link or share image.
Step 3 What next
Which hours does no one cover on our shift roster?Read the guideWho has the kids at every hour of your working week? →Common questions
Does an hour covered by two people count twice?
No. Overlapping care is merged before counting, so the covered hours can never be more than the hours that need care. The overlap shows as double cover, which is useful for handovers.
Can I use this as a single parent?
Yes. With one adult, every hour you are away needs care. Add a second adult only if someone else shares the week with you.
Is working from home the same as care?
No. Only add working from home as an arrangement if you can actually supervise your child in those hours.
