What this estimate assumes

A planning sketch. Scheme rules checked 12 October 2026: for children born from 2015 the CDA stays open until the end of the year they turn 16. For older children, MOE moves unused CDA money to the PSEA in the year they turn 13. The PSEA earns the CPF Ordinary Account rate (2.5%). Children turning 17 from 2026 get a one-off S$10,000 PSEA top-up. MOE pays those turning 17 in 2026 or 2027 in June 2027, and later children in June of the year they turn 17. We add it at the end of age 17. We assume the CDA is left untouched. Estimates you can change: CDA bank interest 2% a year, your own savings return, education inflation 2.5% a year, and university costs in today's dollars. Those are local subsidised about S$70,000 living at home, local private or full-fee about S$110,000, and overseas about S$250,000 with living costs. PSEA money pays only approved courses at approved institutions in Singapore, so it is not counted for an overseas degree. Future CDA grants and co-matching are not added; enter today's balance. LifeSG mentions a PSEA cap without an amount, and MOE gives none, so we apply no cap. NS shifts the timeline for most boys.

Common questions

When does CDA money move to the PSEA?

For children born from 2015, the CDA stays open until the end of the year they turn 16, then unused money moves to the PSEA. For older children it moved in the year they turned 13.

Is any money lost at 31?

No. PSEA money still unused around the middle of the year your child turns 31 moves to their CPF Ordinary Account.
