Your roster

Example A made-up two-week roster: a nurse on early, late and night shifts, and a partner on office hours. Change it to yours.

Any day. The roster repeats after its last day.

Centre hours

ECDA says centres close on Sundays and gazetted public holidays. We close them on those days.

What this result assumes

A planning aid, not a care arrangement. Care is needed when every adult you list is away at work or travelling. A centre can cover those hours only inside its opening hours, and only if your child has a place. ECDA says full-day infant care and child care run from 7am to 7pm, 5 or 5½ days a week, excluding Sundays and gazetted public holidays. Since 1 January 2025 centres no longer have to open on Saturdays, so Saturday is off unless you enter your centre’s hours. A helper’s rest day counts as one full day. MOM says she is entitled to one rest day a week, and at least one a month cannot be compensated away. Sleeping after a night shift? Enter the shift end as the time you are awake to care. Common questions

Why does a night shift show on two days?

The table runs from midnight to midnight. A shift from 9pm to 7am shows 9pm to midnight on the first day and midnight to 7am on the next.

Can a centre cover early mornings, evenings or Sundays?

Only inside its opening hours. ECDA says full-day centres run 7am to 7pm and close on Sundays and gazetted public holidays. Ask your centre about its own hours.

What does MOM say about a helper’s rest day?

Your helper is entitled to one rest day a week. At least one rest day a month cannot be compensated away. You agree the day together, and it can be one full day or two half days.
