How do I keep track of baby’s feeds, nappies and sleep?

Log every feed, nappy and nap with one tap at 3am, see today’s totals at a glance and hand over to the next carer, with everything kept on your phone.

Paper cut-out of a rocking chair by a night window with a crescent moon, and a phone with three big buttons on a side table, on a green floor.

Quick answer

Use a one-tap log on your phone. Tap left, right or bottle for each feed, tap a nappy change, and tap once when baby falls asleep and again on waking. The log shows which side was last and today’s feeds, nappies and sleep. Nothing leaves your phone unless you export it, and you can delete it at any time.

The key point: One tap per feed, nappy or nap; the log stays on your phone.

Who is this for?

Parents and carers of a newborn or young baby, especially in the first weeks when feeds blur together. It is also useful when a grandparent, helper or confinement nanny shares the night shifts and needs to know what happened last.

How do you use the log?

  1. Open the Baby sleep and feeding log and add it to your home screen.
  2. Tap “Feed: Left”, “Feed: Right” or “Bottle” each time baby feeds. The log shows which side was last.
  3. Tap “Nappy change” at each change.
  4. Tap “Fell asleep” when baby falls asleep and “Woke up” when baby wakes. A nap across midnight counts only the part that falls today.
  5. Copy today’s summary to send to your partner or carer, or export the log as a file to move it to another phone.

What does the summary show?

The day view lists each entry with its time and adds up today’s feeds, nappies and total sleep. The copied summary is plain text, so it works in any chat app.

Which tool and download help?

The Baby sleep and feeding log runs in your browser and keeps everything on this phone. For carers who prefer paper, print the Caregiver handover sheet and leave it by the cot.

What does the log not do?

It records what you tap; it does not judge whether a feed or a nap was enough, and it never compares your baby with others. HealthHub’s Baby Sleep page explains newborn sleep and feeding patterns and safe-sleep tips. If you are worried about feeding, weight, sleep or fussing, write down what you have seen and discuss it with your doctor. Your Child Health Booklet is the record to bring.

Clearing your browser data clears the log. Export it first if you want to keep it.

Frequently asked questions

Is my baby’s log sent anywhere?

No. Entries stay on this phone. You can export them as a file, import them on another phone, or delete them.

Can two carers use the same log?

Each phone keeps its own log. Export from one phone and import on the other to merge them; duplicate entries are dropped.

Does the log tell me if baby is feeding enough?

No. It records what you tap and adds up today’s totals. Discuss any feeding or weight worries with your doctor, and bring your Child Health Booklet.

How is sleep counted across midnight?

A nap that starts before midnight counts only the part that falls today in today’s total.
