What this plan assumes
A non-diagnostic planning guide, not yet reviewed by a clinician. The start date is the day your baby turns 6 months. HealthHub says to start after 6 months, led by baby’s readiness signs rather than the date. Textures, amounts, a new food every 3 to 4 days, the first foods, the foods to leave out and the signs to watch for come from HealthHub. The page is Getting Your Baby Started On Solids by HPB with KKH (last reviewed 15 November 2022). The week-by-week order and the move to thicker purees after 4 weeks are our example, built only from HealthHub’s food list. Allergen timing follows KKH’s Allergy Service: no need to delay egg or peanut. If your baby was born early, has eczema or a known allergy, or has any reaction, speak to your doctor. Your baby’s date and log stay on this device. Verify with HealthHub and KKH. Checked .

Is 6 months a fixed date?
No. HealthHub says to start solids after your baby is 6 months old, but there is no need to stick stubbornly to that age. Your baby’s readiness signs are the guide. If baby keeps pushing the spoon out or struggles to swallow, try again in a week. If your baby was born early, or your doctor has given other advice, follow your doctor.
Why one new food every 3 to 4 days?
HealthHub suggests a new food every 3 to 4 days so you can watch for signs of food allergy after each one. The plan puts two new foods in each week, on day 1 and day 4, so every new food has its own few days.
When should we try egg and peanut?
KKH’s allergy specialists say there is no need to delay common allergens such as egg or peanut. Introducing them early may lower the risk of allergy to them. The plan offers each one on its own, once baby has had a few first foods. If your baby has had an egg allergy or has moderate to severe eczema, speak to your doctor before you start.
Where is my baby’s date and log kept?
Only in this browser on this device. Your baby’s birth date and the foods you log are never put in a link, a share image or a saved result. They are not sent to us. Export saves the log as a file for you, and Delete My Log removes it from this device.
