Book a visit with your doctor. The dating scan confirms the pregnancy and estimates your due date. HealthHub says it may be scheduled any time from week 6 to week 12.
First trimester screening (optional) now · weeks 11 to 14
An optional screening test for Down syndrome (nuchal translucency scan or combined test). Ask your doctor whether it suits you.
Coming up from week 18: detailed (anomaly) scan, weeks 18 to 22.
Typical windows from HealthHub, KKH and NUH. Your doctor decides your own schedule.
When to get help
HealthHub’s signs to act on, in the first 12 weeks:
Consult your doctor
- Vaginal bleeding
- Severe vomiting: if you are throwing up so badly that you cannot keep any food or drinks down
See your doctor immediately
- Abdominal pain
How big is your baby?
About 5.4cm long, head to bottom. NHS compares it to a plum.
Leave and Baby Bonus
Coming up from week 30: tell your employer about maternity leave. Give at least 4 weeks' notice before your leave starts. For leave from week 36, the default start, tell them by week 32.
Which baby scheme applies follows the actual birth date. Born before 1 April 2027: the Baby Bonus Scheme. Born on or after it: the SG Child Support Package.
